INSURANCE (desk label), COMIC SPONSORED BY MARTIN LINZMAYER, THANKS FOR LIKING AND SHARING
Overview
This is a 4-panel satirical comic meme criticizing the accessibility issues of the United States healthcare system. In the first panel, a light blue character named Sven approaches an insurance desk and says he needs healthcare; the insurance worker laughs and mockingly asks "LMAO! YOU SERIOUS?". In the second panel, the insurance worker announces Sven's request to a colleague, and both laugh hysterically at the idea of someone expecting to get healthcare. In the third panel, that same night, Sven wakes up screaming in bed, startling his partner who asks what is wrong. In the fourth panel, a distressed Sven replies "I THINK I HAD AN AMERICAN DREAM...". The joke is a dark twist on the concept of the American Dream: what is supposed to be the ideal of American prosperity and security becomes a nightmare, reflecting how inaccessible and unaffordable healthcare is for many ordinary people in the US.
