This God guy must be really bad at engineering
Text content
The human body is so wondrously and perfectly designed there is no flaw and it points undeniably to a Creator.
Overview
This is an 8-panel meme using scenes from the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. The first panel shows Patrick Star sitting in an armchair making the argument that the human body is perfectly, flawlessly designed, which undeniably proves the existence of a divine creator. The following 6 panels show SpongeBob hauling out large piles of trash, each labeled with a widely recognized flaw of human anatomy or cognition: inverted retina, a fragile spine unsuited for supporting full bipedal body weight, vestigial tailbone, inability to synthesize Vitamin C in the liver, narrow pelvis that makes human childbirth far more dangerous than for other mammals, and human pattern learning systems prone to basic logical errors. The final panel shows SpongeBob yelling these points at Patrick, who is now looking out his window stunned. The joke mocks intelligent design arguments by highlighting obvious evolutionary downsides that would be considered extremely poor engineering if a creator had intentionally designed the human body.
Origin notes
This meme uses the popular SpongeBob evidence/trash dump meme format derived from the SpongeBob SquarePants animated series by Nickelodeon. It was originally posted on Reddit's r/Meme subreddit, distributed via RSS feed, as a comedic counterargument to creationist claims that the human body's design is evidence of a divine creator.
