YAMAHA
Overview
This is a two-panel comedy meme that jokes about the incredibly wide, diverse range of unrelated products manufactured by the Japanese company Yamaha. The top panel shows a simple hand-drawn Yamaha factory with a production line starting with a Japanese World War II warplane, followed by Yamaha's well-known pianos. A simple drawn onlooker comments 'I guess we're doing war planes now' reacting to the unexpected non-musical product. In the bottom panel, the factory outputs a huge pile of completely unrelated Yamaha products: Vocaloid characters (Hatsune Miku and other popular Vocaloids, as Yamaha created the Vocaloid voice synthesizer software), multiple types of musical instruments, a boat, a motorcycle, and even a sewing machine. The onlooker now reacts with confusion saying 'Wtf is happening'. The joke relies on the well-known online fact that Yamaha has one of the most diversified business portfolios of any major company, far beyond their reputation as a musical instrument brand.
