Caught being nice, gonna get grounded by hell.
Overview
This is a 5-panel comedy comic. The first panel shows a small red devil child with horns, a tail, and a trident sitting calmly on a park bench reading a book. In the second panel, he notices a thief stealing a woman's pink handbag, indicated by a thought bubble containing an image of the bag and an exclamation mark. The third panel shows the devil kid tripping the masked, running thief to stop him from escaping with the stolen bag. In the fourth panel, the grateful woman who owns the bag thanks the devil kid while a bystander takes a photo of his good deed. The fifth and final panel shows the devil kid sitting dejectedly on a chair at home, while his larger, angry devil parents stand over him scolding him; a newspaper reporting his good deed is visible on the nearby table. The core joke is the subversion of expectations: devils are culturally associated with evil and cruelty, so performing a kind, selfless act is treated as a punishable offense by his hellish family.
Origin notes
The original comic was created by artist Ryan Pagelow for his Buni Comics series, as confirmed by the watermark on the right edge of the comic that lists his name, the year 2014, and the Buni Comic website domain. This comic was later reposted as a meme to the Reddit r/Meme subreddit with the given title referencing getting grounded by hell for being caught performing a nice act.
